Special Apps for Special Kids

A few of you have been asking what kind of apps are good for ASD children.  Here are some sites that are a good starter. If you have suggestions of good websites or specific apps that you are using successfully, please email your recommendations to events@autism.org.nz so that we can share these with other parents.

Check out the IMums website and sign up for their newsletter:  http://www.theimum.com/  They regularly review apps but also have lots of free give aways (apps and even mini-Ipads at the moment).  They also have a great FB page: http://www.facebook.com/TheiMums

For general children’s app reviews http://bestappsforkids.com/ and   http://www.smartappsforkids.com/

For Special Needs kids apps Appable is a good resource. They have been more a community than an app review site but they are moving to doing more reviews, and are revamping their website. Their FB page is a good place to find them and they often have a developer of the week where you find out more about that developer:  https://www.facebook.com/AppAble

Technology in Education is also worth checking out. More a place to meet other special needs parents and hear about apps than really a review site:  https://www.facebook.com/techinspecialed

Help us by donating today! All donations go directly to making a difference for the families we support.
