The first 2 groups of social and friendship skill programme this term was a great success with both parents and children. This is what one of the parents had to say: “The life of Aspergers kids and their families is a very lonely one at times. “No one” really gets why your child behaves like they do, and for us as parents it is hard to find support. The Children’s Autism Foundation life skills course that our son participated in provided us with much needed understanding of our needs, strategies to cope with the many issues we face, and a network that will be of benefit to us for a long time to come. There is someone out there that cares, that is the bottom line of it. We are grateful for the opportunity for our boy to grow and develop, and for us to share.”
We have a name for the programme now! It is called JoinIn. Subject to funding we are planning to run 4 more groups this year. Following the demand we are introducing 2 new age groups: 7/8 and 14/16, as well as the ones we have already run: 9/11 and 12/14 . Times and locations are still to be confirmed but if you are interested, please fill in the attached Expression of Interest Form: Join In – Expression of Interest
