Our Staff

The Children’s Autism Foundation has staked its reputation within the sector in recruiting and developing a team of trained, motivated and dedicated professionals:

Gera Verheul, Family Consultant
Gera has a Grad. Dip. Arts majoring in Psychology and a BA Honors. She has a certificate in Applied Behaviour Therapy for teaching and intervention and has been a foster caregiver for more than 40 children. Gera has also worked as a Teacher Aide with children who have autism.

Arletta van den Bosch, Family Consultant
Arletta has a 15-year background in social work and has worked with Video Home Training, Families First, Family Constellations and in foster care. Arletta has a Masters Degree in Child Therapy, a Post- Grad Certificate in Autism Studies and is qualified to do Stepping Stones Triple P training. She is also works as a private practitioner.

Megan King, Family Consultant
Megan has a Bachelor in Speech & Language Therapy and after graduation worked for the Ministry of Education in South Auckland.  She is trained in Routines Based Early Intervention, has her Communication Assistive Technology accreditation and is a trained Makaton tutor.  She is trained in the Hanen programmes – It Takes Two to Talk & ABC and Beyond.  Most recently Megan have been delivering professional development to preschool teachers in Oral Language & Literacy Development.

Jo Sutton, General Manager
Jo brings a wealth of experience from the commercial sector and leads Operations, Finance and Administration at Children’s Autism Foundation.  She has a child with ASD and is passionate about supporting other families with autistic children.

Carol Richardson
Carol joined our team in August 2019 as Office/Finance Manager and keeps everything ticking away beautifully at the Children’s Autism Foundation office.

Volunteers
Behind the scenes at CAF there are many volunteers who generously give their time & energy to assist in our office, help at our workshops and provide input into our various projects.  If you have a spare hour or two and wish to use your skills to make a real difference for others please drop us a line!

A.S.K. Professional Development

ASK (Autism Spectrum Knowledge) training is a series of interactive professional development workshops, aimed at furthering participants’ understanding of Autism. The 2-hour workshops are tailored to meet the needs of schools and other workplace environment. The workshops are run by highly qualified facilitators who have extensive working experience of Autism.
