The Asian Outreach Cambodia supports children from impoverished families
by giving the opportunity to attend and complete primary school. The organization provides them with school uniforms, footwear, books, school-bags and other necessary resources to attend school – like bicycles if they live far away and healthcare if they’re unwell.
They also support schools and teachers with training and resources.
One area they are wanting to support more is ASD. Children’s Autism Foundation Family Consultant Arletta is working with the coordinators in Auckland and Cambodia to find ways to
help train schools and families on ASD. In addition, Diane Taylor and her husband are providing general teacher training and supports and will travel to Cambodia this coming October. Arletta’s aim is to make sure they leave with some useful resources for families and schools they can use with
their students and families with ASD.
HOW CAN YOU HELP?
Do you have resources and materials laying around that you no longer use (visual systems,
routines, sensory materials (small), anything that would be useful for children with ASD. Would you please consider donating these to put to good use in Cambodia?
