This service is led by the families priorities and values with guidance from a trained staff member. Support is provided through home visits, phone calls, or by email and available after diagnosis and during those difficult transition periods. Families also have access to an extensive resource library.
Being able to play teaches children important lessons about the world, how to get along with others and helps abstract cognitive skills. These sessions are personalised and are conducted in the comfort of the home environment.
‘Join In’ is a 10 week programme for children aged 7 to 16. The programmes are run in age specific groups for children and parents to participate in. Parents gain knowledge from our experienced team and other parents, while their children gain social and friendship skills to better interact at school and in the community.
‘Join In’ Jumping Beans is a physical development programme for children aged between 2 and 6 years. Activities are designed to develop physical coordination, motor and social skills. A Family Consultant is on hand to support parents who attend with their child and parents have an opportunity to meet others and share experiences.
In collaboration with Clip ‘n Climb North Shore we hold climbing sessions just for people with autism from 4 years through to teenagers and adults. Help your child gain confidence and overcome challenges while building up their social skills. We receive excellent feedback from families, and many parents and siblings join in climbing too – it’s for the whole family!
