Workshops

Strategies for Behaviour

This workshop is based on the principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA).

The workshop will cover the following:

Understanding behaviour
How to ‘read’ your child’s behaviour
Understanding the functions of behaviour
What strategies to use to deal with behaviour
How to implement these strategies at home/ school/community

Understanding Autism

This workshop is presented by our Family Consultant, Arletta van den Bosch.

Arletta runs our Join In (social skill) programme and our outreach service.

The workshop will cover the following:

How does a child with autism affect our family
What is autism?
How can I help as a parent?
Where do I go for help

Dealing with Anxiety

This workshop is presented by our Family Consultant, Arletta van den Bosch.

Arletta runs our Join In (social skill) programme and our outreach service.

The workshop will cover the following topics:

What is  Anxiety
Examples of social interactions that lead to anxiety
Primary School to adolescents
When do children need support
Learning to deal with anxiety
Strategies for parents and children
Anxiety Toolkits

Sensory Processing

The workshop will cover the following topics:

Sensory input
Sensory differences and sensitivities in relation to Autism
Tool kits for use at home and in the classroom

Social and Friendship Skills

Topics include:

Boosting your child’s self-esteem
Learning to problem solve
Learning about making friends
Getting on with others.

ASK Training for Schools

ASK (Autism Spectrum Knowledge) is a series of interactive
professional development workshops,
aimed at furthering participants understanding of autism.
The 2-hour workshops provide practical strategies for educators and school staff.
Workshops are tailored to meet the needs of entire school and pupils.

The entire training is made up of 5 two hour training programmes
designed as interactive workshops
Session 1 – Understanding ASD
Session 2 – Strategies for Behaviour
Session 3 – Dealing with Anxiety
Session 4 – Sensory Issues
Session 5 – Social Skills
